According to Inmet, rainfall is expected to be between 30 and 60 mm per hour or 50 to 100 mm per day, with winds of 60 to 100 km/h and the possibility of hail. There is a risk of power outages, falling trees, flooding, and damage to crops.

The most affected areas include western and northern Santa Catarina, the Itajaí Valley and the mountainous region of Santa Catarina, as well as the central-west, west, southwest, southeast, south-central, northwest and north-central regions of Paraná, the northwest and northeast of Rio Grande do Sul, and the southwest of Mato Grosso do Sul.

Inmet also maintains a yellow alert for potential danger of storms in wider areas of the four states, including Greater Florianópolis, Metropolitan Curitiba, the Pantanal region of Mato Grosso do Sul, and the eastern and north-central regions of Mato Grosso do Sul. In these locations, rainfall of up to 50 mm per day, winds of 40 to 60 km/h, and the possibility of hail are expected.

According to Inmet, the formation of a cold front over the Southern Region maintains areas of instability over much of the region this Wednesday (22), with forecasts of rain, thunderstorms and hail in Paraná, Santa Catarina and northern Rio Grande do Sul.

On Thursday (23), Inmet predicts that the instabilities will move northward in the Southern Region. Rio Grande do Sul should have more stable weather again, while Paraná and Santa Catarina remain under yellow alert for storms.

In Mato Grosso do Sul, the advance of the cold front favors rain, thunderstorms and the possibility of hail, mainly in the south of the state. The orange alert is valid for the area that includes Amambai, Coronel Sapucaia, Paranhos, Iguatemi and Mundo Novo. Unstable conditions will also persist on Thursday (23), especially in the south and west of the state.
