Activities in the second corn crop fields continue to advance across Brazil. According to Conab's crop monitoring data, as of last Saturday (18), 99.9% of the off-season areas had already been sown. The index remained in line with that recorded last week, staying slightly behind the 100% of the same period in 2025 and the average of the last five years.
So far, Goiás, Piauí, Tocantins, São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Maranhão, Mato Grosso and Paraná have already completed planting activities, which continue only in Mato Grosso do Sul (99%). Of the areas already sown, 40.2% are still in vegetative development, flowering (43.8%) and grain filling (15.8%).
Conab technicians highlight that rainfall remains well distributed and in good volume in Mato Grosso, while Paraná has irregular precipitation, but still helping the crops. In Mato Grosso do Sul, planting is still facing difficulties in being completed, even with the more scattered rains.
Goiás continues to have good soil moisture, benefiting crops, which are also in good condition in Minas Gerais, Tocantins, and Piauí. In Maranhão, however, the lack of rain has caused water stress in some areas.
At the same time, harvesting of the summer crop continues to advance, rising from 55.5% last week to 59.4%. This index is lower than last year's 68.2% and the 5-year average of 62.6%.
The only state that has already finished harvesting is São Paulo, while work is still ongoing in Santa Catarina (97%), Paraná (96%), Rio Grande do Sul (93%), Minas Gerais (43%), Bahia (42%), Goiás (15%) and Piauí (2%). Meanwhile, 25.4% of the areas are already maturing, 13.4% are in grain filling and 1.6% are still flowering.
Conab technicians also point out that the harvest is slower in Minas Gerais, with many areas showing excess moisture, but the grain quality is still good. Rio Grande do Sul is also progressing slowly, as producers prioritize soybean work.
In Piauí, rainfall has settled in practically all regions, which has benefited crops, which are also showing good conditions in Maranhão, with most areas in reproductive stages.
