Harvest progress puts pressure on soybean prices in Brazil and Argentina

Favorable weather for the 2024/25 soybean harvest in Brazil and Argentina and for the 2025/26 season in the United States put pressure on export premiums for the oilseed last week.

According to researchers at Cepea, in ports and on the spot market, in addition to this context, the payment due dates at the end of April reinforced the downward movement, as it punctually increased the interest in selling, which was above demand.

Cepea researchers point out, however, that many sellers are still waiting for higher prices in the following months, showing a preference for negotiating forward contracts.

In the field, the harvest continues to advance in Brazil and Argentina.

According to Conab, as of April 26, 94.8% of the national soybean area had been harvested, surpassing the 90.5% recorded in the same period in 2024. In Argentina, producers are more optimistic.

Recently harvested areas are more productive than early harvested areas.

According to the Bolsa de Cereales, 23.6% of the Argentine area had been harvested as of April 29.
