Revenue from poultry genetics exports grows 5.4% in February

Brazilian poultry genetics exports (fertile eggs and 1-day-old chicks) generated 5.4% higher revenue in February this year, reports the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA), with US$$ 20.4 million registered in the second month of this year, against US$$ 19.4 million last year.

Volumes shipped in February totaled 1,753 tons, 33.8% lower than the previous year, with 2,646 tons.

In the two-month period, export revenue reached US$$ 39.9 million, a balance 2.3% higher than that recorded last year, with US$$ 38.7 million. 3,891 tons were exported, a volume 23.9% lower than the same period last year, with 5,116 tons.

The main destination for exports in February, Mexico imported 863 tons, 0.2% less than in the same period last year. Next came Venezuela, with 243 tons (+356.7%), Paraguay, with 218 tons (-23.9%), Senegal, with 187 tons (-70%) and Ivory Coast, with 64 tons (+611.4%). “This month’s exports were driven by countries that are investing in the recovery or expansion of local poultry farming. This is especially the case of Venezuela, which has seen increases in imports in recent months,” says ABPA president Ricardo Santin.
