In the case of fresh chicken, the variation was 23%, jumping from US$$ 814 million in the first quarter of 2024 to US$$ 1 billion in the first three months of 2025. The share of this product in Paraná's export balance also grew, going from 14.8% to 18.8%. The state is the national leader in chicken production, responsible for 34.2% of production in the country.

Regarding fresh pork, growth was 89.5%, going from US$$ 64 million between January and March 2024 to US$$ 121 million in the same three months of 2025, practically doubling the product's share in Paraná's international agenda, reaching 2.3%, compared to 1.2% in the first quarter of the previous year. As the second largest Brazilian pork producer, in 2024 Paraná will reduce the difference with Santa Catarina, reaching 21.5% of slaughters in the country.

Still in the food sector and with growth of 20.9%, the sale of cereals to the international market went from US$$ 215 million to US$$ 260 million, growing one percentage point in relation to its share in Paraná's export agenda, with 4.9%.

The biggest increase in the comparison between the first quarters of 2024 and 2025, however, was in automobile exports, a sector in which Paraná is the second largest hub in Brazil, reaching 130.4% of variation, resulting in an increase from US$$ 72 million to US$$ 167 million. This caused Paraná's share in the export balance to more than double, going from 1.3% to 3.1%.

In total, exports from Paraná reached US$5.3 billion from January to March this year, which guaranteed the State fifth place among the Federation units, with a 5.3% share, behind only São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro and Mato Grosso.

Markets

In terms of markets, China was the main customer of Paraná products, absorbing 21.9% of state exports; followed by Argentina, with a share of 6.9%; the United States, with 6.7%, and Mexico, with 4.1%. With representation between 2% and 3%, Iran, Paraguay, Bangladesh, Chile, the United Arab Emirates and India also appear.

According to the Secretary of Planning of Paraná, Ulisses Maia, exports play an important role in the economic growth of the state, since serving the international market generates jobs and salaries locally. “Exports are a vocation of Paraná, involving practically all regions of the state,” he states.

Based on the current scenario of tariff barriers, the CEO of Ipardes, Jorge Callado, believes that Paraná can take advantage of the situation to increase its participation in international trade. “Even with trade disputes, which are detrimental to the global economy, there are opportunities that can be opened up to Paraná, especially in the agricultural commodities segment, with the replacement, in favor of the state, of suppliers for large markets,” he explains.
