Brazilian chicken exports to Iraq are growing.

Brazilian chicken meat exports totaled 482,300 tons in September, a decrease of 0.61% compared to the same period in 2024, according to data from the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA). In value terms, shipments totaled US$857.9 million, a decrease of 10.11%.

Among the main markets, Iraq stood out for the second consecutive month, with 13,500 tons exported, an increase of 7.91% compared to September of last year. Other sales grew to South Africa, Mexico, and Saudi Arabia, while Japan and the United Arab Emirates showed a decline.

In the period from January to September, Brazil exported 3.876 million tons, a reduction of 11% compared to the same period last year, totaling US$7.1 billion in revenue. This performance was impacted by an outbreak of avian influenza in May, which led to the temporary suspension of shipments. Most of the embargoes have since been lifted.

The president of ABPA, Ricardo Santin, highlighted that there are good expectations for October, driven by the resumption of sales to the European Union. The leading exporting states continue to be Paraná, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul, São Paulo, and Goiás.
