On the eve of the BRICS Heads of State Summit, the Brazilian government met with the Prime Minister of the People's Republic of China, Li Qiang, on Saturday (5). The bilateral meeting was attended by the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Carlos Fávaro.
The meeting took place two months after a state visit to Beijing, where more than 30 agreements were signed. Five markets were also opened for the export of duck meat, turkey meat, chicken giblets (heart, liver, and gizzard), grains derived from the corn ethanol industry (DDG and DDGs), and peanut meal.

The two leaders highlighted the excellent momentum of bilateral relations and reviewed the implementation of synergies between national development projects. They also emphasized China's importance as Brazil's largest trading partner, especially in the agricultural sector, and the main destination for Brazilian exports of various agricultural products.
On the trade agenda, the Chinese side committed to intensifying procedures to recognize Brazil as free of avian flu and foot-and-mouth disease without vaccination. It will also analyze Brazil's proposal to regionalize certificates of animal origin. Brazil reinforced its interest in expanding technical cooperation in agriculture and livestock.
According to Fávaro, cooperation between the countries helps optimize trade flows and strengthen food security in both nations. "We are great partners and can further expand this relationship, creating new opportunities for producers and consumers," the minister stated.
