The fat cattle market has rebounded in recent weeks, following a period of increased pressure in July. The Cepea (SP) indicator closed September trading above R$ 306.80/@, and in the first week of this month, the arroba was quoted at R$ 312. The carcass followed the appreciation, keeping the industry spread stable at around 5.6%. The calf remains close to R$ 2,850 per head, stable compared to the previous month, but about 38% more expensive compared to a year ago.
In exports, China remains the main destination and provides market support, even with the drop in sales to the United States after the imposition of additional tariffs. Last month, Brazil shipped 268,600 tons of fresh beef, only 3% below the historical record, but 23.5% above the volume recorded in the same period of 2024. The average export price reached US$5,600/t, rising for the fifth consecutive month.
In Mato Grosso, slaughtering continues steadily, with 660,700 head in the latest survey, an increase of 1% compared to July. Considering working days, the daily average was 10% higher, with female cattle accounting for 46%, above the 42% of the same period last year. This increase confirms that the supply of cattle remains robust in the main producing state.
