On a celebratory evening, the Mato Grosso Soybean and Corn Producers Association (Aprosoja MT) awarded the 20 winners of the third edition of the Aprosoja MT Journalism Prize, themed "The Impact of Sustainable Agriculture on Urban Life." In 2025, more than 120 works were submitted in the categories: Video Report, Text Report, Audio Report, Photojournalism, and University Journalism, in addition to the Regional Highlights for the North, South, East, West, and Cuiabá Lowlands.
The event took place on Tuesday evening (November 18th), bringing together all the finalists for the awards ceremony and celebration of the work that values Mato Grosso's agriculture. For the president of Aprosoja MT, Lucas Costa Beber, the event is fundamental to bringing communicators closer to the sector.
"Concluding today the third Aprosoja Mato Grosso journalism award, and with great satisfaction we close another event that is always an opportunity to be close to the press, a sector so important to our country that helps to give direction, that informs and, above all, also helps to spread our sector," highlighted the president.
In the Video Reporting category, the winner was Pedro Silvestre Dias, from Canal Rural Mato Grosso, with the report "Brazil is a leader in the recycling of agricultural pesticide packaging," showing how the sector promotes good sustainability practices in the disposal of materials.
"The blood of agriculture runs in our veins, and we defend agriculture with great affection. It runs in our veins with passion. This here is more than a trophy for us; this is a testament to what we do with so much love and care," said Pedro.
In the Text Reporting category, first place went to Pollyana Araújo Souza Almeida, from the Portal Primeira Página, with the article “Trust Code: Traceability Connects”.
“It’s an indescribable feeling, I’m very happy for the recognition, for the work I do. I’ve been working in journalism for almost 20 years and today I’m being awarded here. I’m very happy for the recognition from Aprosoja MT, congratulations on the initiative, for valuing good journalism, thank you!”, commented Pollyana.
In addition to awarding the winning journalists, the evening also marked the traditional gathering with the press, bringing the organization closer to these professionals and boosting the partnership between the productive sector and the media.
The works registered in the 2025 edition underwent a rigorous evaluation by the Institutional Judges, namely: the vice-president of the western region of Aprosoja MT, Gilson Antunes de Melo, and...
Vice-President for the South, Laura Battisti Nardes, the coordinating delegate of the Campo Novo do Parecis Nucleus, Clarete Brolio Rezende, the coordinating delegate of the Sapezal Nucleus, Marlise Marafon, and the coordinating delegate of the Lucas do Rio Verde Nucleus, Taisa Botton.
“One of the goals of our board is to communicate with the general public and the journalism that covers this aspect. We were very excited about what was shown, because it conveys the producer's feelings, it brings all the ideas that the producer wants to pass on to society in their daily life, what they do in the fields, which the reporter and the press can then take to the general public,” Gilson emphasized.
Furthermore, the works were also evaluated by a Technical Committee, formed by the head of journalism of the Noticias Agrícolas portal, Aleksander Horta, the presenter and text editor of Agromais TV, Simone Garcia, and the photographer of the Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock of Brazil (CNA), Wenderson Araújo.
“There was a lot of good stuff, and the winner had to do something really different, had to bring a mix of knowledge, technique, and understanding of agriculture, but the team delivered. It was very interesting to give perspective, especially from the urban journalist who writes about agriculture and is beginning to understand this connection, this importance of the rural-urban connection,” commented Aleksander.
Together they evaluated the works with scores from 1 to 5, considering all the criteria defined by the regulations, such as journalistic relevance, narrative quality, visual impact, public benefit, use of information sources, and originality.
The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each category received R$20,000, R$15,000, and R$5,000 respectively, with the exception of the winners in the University Journalism category, where the podium received awards of R$15,000, R$10,000, and R$5,000. The winners of the Regional Highlights awards each received R$7,000.
